Introduction to a new rival of Twitter as Meta Threads goes viral

Published on 29.07.2023 by Sofia N

After a takeover from Elon Musk, Twitter became very popular. The data proves that Elon Musk’s strategy works and people are still in need of application sharing text and knowledge. Mark Zuckerberg was ready for this moment and he dropped another big thing. Meta made a new digital product, “Threads app”. It’s been a few weeks as Threads’ is active and more than 100 million are already using it. As people call it, Instagram Threads App is a new word for the Meta. We tried to gather all possible information and data about the Threads to share with you!

What’s a “Thread”

"Threads" is a popular application developed by Instagram, designed to facilitate text-based conversations and community engagement. It serves as a platform where users can come together to discuss various topics of interest. With Threads, communities can connect and share their thoughts, ideas, and experiences through text updates.

The app allows users to post and share text, images, videos, and other forms of content. It offers features such as replies, reposts, and likes, which enable interactions with other users' posts. Threads provides a seamless and engaging communication experience, empowering users to express themselves and connect with like-minded individuals.

Copy-cat functions of Twitter

Threads provides a central hub for organizing discussions, allowing users to create and participate in threaded conversations. This enables focused and structured communication, making it easier to track and reference important information. Threads offers features such as file sharing, task management, and real-time notifications, streamlining collaboration and boosting productivity. Whether used for project management, brainstorming, or team updates, Threads empowers teams to work efficiently and effectively, ultimately driving successful outcomes.

The app, launched by Meta (formerly known as Facebook), has been dubbed a potential "Twitter killer" due to its similarities to the popular microblogging platform.

Meta Threads V Twitter

One of the main reasons for the backlash is the concern that Threads will replace Twitter and diminish its user base. However, according to Instagram head Adam Mosseri, Threads is not meant to replace Twitter completely. It is focused on sharing short snippets of text and is not intended for "hard news" or political discussions.

Another point of contention is the rapid growth of the app. Threads reportedly reached 100 million sign-ups in less than five days, which has raised eyebrows among Twitter users. Some see it as a direct threat to Twitter's dominance in the social media space.

Despite the controversy, Threads offers some unique features that have garnered attention. Users can easily read and share Twitter threads using the app, thanks to its integration with Thread Reader.

Why Musk brought Twitter - New age of Text-based soc. networks

Elon Musk initiated the acquisition of Twitter on April 14, 2022, and completed the deal on October 27, 2022. He acquired the social media company for a total cost of approximately $44 billion. As part of the acquisition, Musk took over as the majority shareholder of Twitter, promptly firing key executives, including CEO Parag Agrawal and policy officers. The acquisition marked Musk's entry into the world of social media ownership and sparked widespread discussion about decentralization.

The big purchase from Elon Musk was the main catalyst for Meta’s team to work on Threads. The latest success of Twitter has shown possibilities. Experts believed that Musk could not turn Twitter’s future around. They were wrong and Musk’s team was very efficient with each risk. Zuck’s team did everything to create a top-level competitor for Twitter.

The app features a simple and intuitive layout, with a focus on text-based communication. Users can publish short posts or updates of up to 500 characters, similar to Twitter's character limit. This allows for quick and concise messaging, perfect for sharing thoughts, updates, or engaging in conversations.

Layout and Appearance of Meta’s Threads

The logo of Meta Threads is an interesting element that catches the eye. At first glance, it resembles the "@" symbol commonly associated with email addresses. However, upon closer inspection, it becomes clear that it is not exactly the same symbol. The logo is created using Instagram's sans-serif font and adds a unique touch to the overall branding of the app.

One of the key aspects of Meta Threads' appearance is its similarity to Twitter. From the layout to the color scheme, the app closely resembles the popular social media platform. This has led some to refer to Meta Threads as a potential "Twitter killer," as it offers a similar user experience with a fresh twist.

Meta Threads' appearance is sleek, modern, and user-friendly. Its resemblance to Twitter provides a sense of familiarity for users, while also offering unique features and a distinct visual identity. As the app continues to grow and evolve, it will be interesting to see how it further distinguishes itself from its competitors and carves out its own space in the social media landscape.
