Ten Expert Predictions on the Future of Instagram in 2030

Ten Expert Predictions on the Future of Instagram in 2030

Our world did not always center around Instagram and other social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and TikTok. We didn't have anything comparable to an app that enables us to share our activities with the world.

We conducted our lives without looking to the internet for approval. There were no reels, stories, or status updates to capture the most memorable moments of our lives. People only turned to sources like newspapers, magazines, online blogs, radio, and TV channels even when we required news updates.

Since Zuckerberg's Instagram became popular, a ton of other lucrative social media platforms have flooded the market, and not having an Instagram handle is seen as being out of date due to how much social media has dominated our lives.

What does the future hold for the Instagram platform when it becomes 20-years old? This article looks at ten expert predictions on the future of Instagram in 2030.

What do the Experts Predict about the Future of Instagram in 2030?

Piera Gelardi predicts the exchange of real emotions on Instagram:

She predicts that wearables will play a significant role in the portable future of Instagram and how we consume its resources, as she foresees the development of bodily implantable gadgets that will be able to communicate with everything around us.

This may sound absurd, but what we are seeing in the industry right now is just the beginning of how we can share our individual experiences.

She also thinks we will be able to share a taste, a sensation, and a smell as consciousness and a version of telepathic communication become more likely.

Increased personalization, one-to-one communication, more human-like algorithms, and more focused, diverse social interactions would become realities on the Instagram platform.

She further stated that social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook that combine socializing and publishing will probably need to choose a lane and change significantly because she sees a growing divide between the two.

According to Piera Gelardi, social media will one day allow us to communicate with others by exchanging real-time emotions in the same way that we do with chats and messages. That means that it will one day allow us to communicate with others by exchanging real-time emotions in the same way that we do with chats and messages.

Imagine being able to experience your partner's warm embrace or your lover's kisses through a social media app.

Cory Bergman predicts that Instagram would become the main source of information:

By 2030, new updates will be covered by a large number of eyewitnesses streaming live video on Instagram. The viewer will be able to virtually experience the event in real-time thanks to the weaving together of these streams into a single immersive video on the platform. The world will seem to be right around the corner, for better or worse.

Instagram (social media), according to Cory, will become man's largest and most trusted information source by 2030 because people will be able to capture and share real-time events to all corners of the globe.

In all honesty, events like the "Black Lives Matter" incident involving George Floyd and the “Lekki Massacre” in Nigeria have shown us a glimpse of the future of Instagram in 2030.

Jeremy Goldman predicts holographic display and voice command features on Instagram:

How we consume and create media will have completely changed in twenty years, as the use of keyboards on desktops, laptops, tablets, and smartphones to navigate Instagram will become less and less useful as voice commands take over most social media interactions.

Holographic displays will become more widely used, ending the argument over whether a 4-inch or 4.7-inch smartphone display is better.

Jeremy primarily considers an Instagram (social media) environment in which typing is no longer necessary for interpersonal communication.

At some point, we once envisioned a world in which we could chat with our friends on Instagram without having to type anything—a world where phones respond to voice commands and the system converts my speech to text.

Furthermore, we are all aware that there are some speech-to-text systems in use today, but none of them have yet entered the Instagram sphere. In line with Jeremy's prediction, they will soon rule social media.

Melody Kramer predicts effortless communication and sharing on Instagram:

Kramer sees Instagram evolving by 2030, as she believes that it will eventually become a component of our clothing, our glasses, and our shoes, and we will no longer view it as just a social media platform but as an integral part of our very being.

She further states that sharing will become more passive as society progresses; it won't be necessary to put any effort into sharing any aspect of our lives on Instagram.

Melody Kramer imagines an Instagram environment in which users communicate by literally staring at their smartphones, express their feelings to one another by tapping on their wristwatches, and receive notifications on their eyeglasses.

Sarah Green that Instagram would become one with other social media platforms by 2030:

Sarah believes that by 2030, Instagram and other social media platforms will function more like electricity does today—an unseen component of the infrastructure that surrounds us that we only notice when it's missing.

Because they won't be able to rely as heavily on intrusive display ads to grab people's attention, advertisers, marketers, and influential people will be under more pressure to spread their ideas in a way that is interesting and helpful.

However, the same trend will also make it possible for these same individuals to target their messages with great accuracy.

Sarah Green imagines a social media environment in which social media like Instagram are intrinsically linked to the larger internet community.

Therefore, instead of what we currently have, which segregates social media channels from blog channels, e-commerce channels, fashion and lifestyle channels, sports channels, and the like, every element will coexist.

Jason Stein predicts the future if Instagram is VR:

We all spend time on our phones, reading articles, liking posts, and viewing stories on Instagram. But by 2030, we will all just need to connect to Instagram by donning our Oculus virtual reality glasses, and the next thing we know, we are with our friends having a video chat on Instagram.

Since we can't all make it to major live events, we can share the similar emotional effect of being there via Oculus glasses while at home.

VR immerses you in a brand-new, totally immersive world, which promotes disconnection. Every industry will be affected, including concerts, sporting events, educational institutions, travel, tourism, business gatherings, and more.

Jason Stein imagines an Instagram where VR has completely taken over. In this world, we won't just observe the lifestyles of others through videos; instead, we'll immerse ourselves in their surroundings and experience their emotions firsthand.

Imagine being able to virtually join your friends at an Instagram meetup in Vegas while you are currently sitting on your porch in New York. Alternatively, you can virtually visit your doctor's office during your appointment by using your Oculus lenses to connect to his Instagram Live.

Adam Mosseri predicts that Instagram would prioritize mobile devices:

Instagram is being shifted to a location where videos will play a larger role in the home experience. Where the content is more immersive, more of the screen is occupied by it. Photo and video are headed toward a mobile-first future.

A test where both photos and videos occupy more of your screen is one step in that direction. He states that Instagram is attempting to determine how to move forward in a society where increasingly more people will prioritize their mobile devices.

Otis Kimzey predicts that personalized content will be the new Instagram norm by 2030:

He predicts that by 2030, the amount of data that will be accessible to everyone, as well as its ability to influence decisions, will have undergone the most significant change.

We will have an Instagram platform that will remember our preferences and record our day-to-day activities even while we are unconscious of them. Personalized content will become the norm with this much data.

We all love unfiltered feeds, but in the future, a highly customized and potent Instagram experience will be produced when the depth of data available meets the capacity to make decisions based on that data.

People will be able to access the content they desire from the people and brands of their choice at the time and place of their choosing on any device of their choice.

Jamie Susskind predicts that Instagram will be incorporated into our lives in every way.

He predicts that the difference between reality and virtual reality will likely become much less significant in the next 10 years as we coexist with social media platforms like Instagram.

In other words, Instagram would become our new reality as the difference would become smaller on Instagram in 10 years.

Katie Lance predicts that Instagram will be the go-to platform for edutainment.

Edutainment is a type of lighthearted video that can be found on Instagram Reels. It moves quickly and is entertaining.

Why is this crucial? According to her, this kind of content aids people in getting to know us, expanding our sphere, and having fun with our content as we do business with people we know, like, trust, and relate to.
